HERAIC: TREND: MIDI SKIRTS

Rise of retro has brought us the midi skirts. For about two years we have been seeing them all around and it seems that we will see more midi skirts as many designers used them in their Spring and Fall 2014 collections. Thus, I'm gonna share some midi skirt looks in my post today.
There are many types of midi skirts such as pencil, pleated, circle, peasant, wrap, asymmetrical but what is more important than the type is the way you wear them. First rule is the longer your legs are, the longer midi skirt will fit to you. Knee length skirts will be better for short legs.
Let's check some midi skirts out on celebrities!

Alexa Chung wears her midi skirts with a tee, a sweater and a shirt. First look will be so chic on the street while the others will be for cocktails.

One of the best ways to wear high-waisted midi skirts is with crop tops. Diane Kruger opts this way for both street look and cocktail look.

Maria Menounos chooses two different midi skirt looks. In the first picture, she wears a pleated skirt with a white shirt worn inside of it and with a thick belt. You can choose this for your casual looks in summer days. In the second picture, she wears a circle skirt with a crop top, which is a wrong choice actually because it shortens her height.

Flared print skirts are the most common of the retro midi skirts. I loved Katie Holmes's first skirt and the harmony of the colours. The second looks is just flawless with those Isabel Marant boots, white shirt and that hair. It is another sample for women with long legs.

Boho girls will like Kate Bosworth's look which I also liked, except those boots. She looks as a little girl wearing her older sister's shoes.

Another best way of wearing a high-waisted skirt is wearing the blouse inside the skirt. It will show your waist better. And if you wear a blouse like Emmy Rossum, you will have a classy look.

We see two different midi skirt looks of Miranda Kerr with almost the same tank tops, high heels. I want you to see how the shape of skirt changes things. The pencil skirt makes it a cocktail look while the print skirt makes it a daily summer look. I advise you to have these two options in your mind for both of them are stylish looks for different times.

Allhough the way she wears are opposite of my tastes, Olivia Palermo likes midi skirts and you may like her. First look with sheer skirt and top is my favourite for street style. Second one is also a stylish look; chiffon pleated skirts are the most common kind of midi skirts. The other looks are not my taste but those skirts would be more chic with different pieces.

Olivia Munn's is one of the best midi skirt looks I have seen so far. She knows what she wants and what kind of body she has to reach this. It is just a simple white shirt but not a tight one; just a print skirt but not a straight one; high heels but plain ones.

For comfortable and chic street look, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is a great sample. It is no more than a plain shirt and skirt with flat shoes.

I'm like "Those pieces together? Really? Wow! I think I like it!" She is Sarah Jessica Parker and she does it anyway. If you are dashing enough, here you have SJP.

L'AGENCE

Talking about retro, Dita von Teese must be somewhere in this post and here she is with her distinctive style. Wearing simple tops with her showy skirts, she never creates exaggerated looks that tire our eyes.

Eva Mendes is another celebrity with a distinctive style with head scarfs and retro pieces. She seems to be fond of midi skirts and she wears them her own way. In all three picture, she creates flawless looks with simplistic pieces.

Miroslava Duma reaches sophistication with the colour combination. While wearing skirts with prints on white texture, a top with the colour of the print will be a great option. But the colour choice is also important. For instance, Duma's colour choice makes the look even softer and fits well with her skin and hair colour.

Here you have three Selita Ebanks midi skirt looks for four seasons that you should definitely try. The first is with a leather skirt with a sweater for winter; the second is a chiffon skirt with a chiffon shirt for spring and autumn; the last is a chiffon print skirt with a ruffle sleeveless top for summer.

Another one that we cannot skip in a retro trend is Taylor Swift. She is fond of these skirts and wears them perfect. I adored the first look, which is flawless with colours and shapes. The second look is a comfy one, she makes the skirt casual with her shirt. The others are sedate girl looks. You can apply them for family meetings :)

The last celebrity for midi skirt post is Keira Knightly with her two opposite looks. In the first picture we have a comfy daily look, in the other an elegant, classy look. I didn't like the shirt in the former, a thinner shirt would be better. The latter is another flawless midi skirt look.
