It's already the 7th day of New York Fashion Week Spring 2016 and amazing collections comes after one another. Carolina Herrera, Jenny Packham, Prabal Gurung, Tommy Hilfiger and Jeremy Scott presented their collections yesterday and now I don't know which one I should praise more.
I want to begin with Prabal Gurung for he has achieved huge things at such a young age. Not just as a designer but also as a person. After the earthquake in Nepal this year, he called for donations on social media and thanks to him much money have been raised for the victims. This new Prabal Gurung collection has so much from Nepal. Especially the colours like yellow and orange. Lace, sheer, prints and knitwear are stars of this collection, too.
Pinks are in the majority in Carolina Herrera's Spring 2016 presentation. Sheer panelling, modern pleats and subtle embroideries are obviously a work of a master. Every piece is so soft and feminine.
Jenny Packham adds some masculinity to her elegant designs. Her embellished dresses, flowers and soft fabrics are still there but with addition of some oversize blazers.
Abunduntly usage of colours is nothing new for Jeremy Scott. In this new collection, he reflects our screen exposed brain and it is clearly very much complex, colourful and a little bit scary. Well, he likes having fun.
Tommy Hilfiger gets his inspiration from an island as we understand from the lagoon, the boardwalk, Bob Marley songs and the looks on his Spring 2016 presentation. The collection is very young and sporty consisting of knitted details, cool jackets, bohemian chiffon dresses and usual Hilfiger colours.
Other shows of the day are Maiyet, Jonathan Simkhai, Karen Walker and Rosetta Getty. Check all out below.
